OnePlus is gearing up to launch its 2018 flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 6 and the company has announced that it is teaming up with Marvel Studios for Avengers: Infinity War. It’s speculated that the company might launch an Avengers: Infinity War themed OnePlus 6 smartphone in India. Oneplus previously partnered with Disney India for announcing the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition exclusively for their customers in the country. The company’s press release reads, “The collaboration marks a step towards strengthening our association with Disney India. In December 2017, OnePlus and Disney partnered to launch OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition, which was well received by fans across both communities.”
OnePlus had previously posted a video, teasing the company’s partnership with Marvel Studios but had taken it down later. An earlier report tipped that the Avengers edition of the OnePlus 6 will be the top-most variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. It’s already confirmed that the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, retain the 3.5mm audio jack and come with a notch on top of its display. Many OnePlus users were unhappy with the design change decision and the company also soon announced that there will be a compatibility mode on the device, which will hide the notch whenever the phone is in landscape orientation. The option can be set for individual apps and is said to work “flawlessly” with over 1000 top apps on the Play Store.
The OnePlus 6 is also teased to offer gesture support and could allow users to swipe up from the left to go back a menu, swipe up and hold from the right or left for multitasking, and there could also be a feature for drawing symbols and booting directly to set apps. The company has also hinted that the OnePlus 6 could also be waterproof or water-resistant. OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau also recently posted the first official camera samples captured from the smartphone. He showcased the daylight and bokeh performance of the camera on the smartphone and unsurprisingly, the meta-data from the images was removed so that no details of the device’s camera can be identified.
Alongside the OnePlus 6, the company could also launch a Bluetooth enabled version of its Bullets in-ear headphones. The headphone was recently spotted on the Bluetooth certification website sporting the model number BT31B and it’s registered to OnePlus. Some previous reports also tip at another variant of the smartphone, with a wooden finish on the rear panel. The phone is expected to launch running on OxygenOS based upon Android Oreo and official forum for the OnePlus 6 is also up.
